(16) [English] The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 6:26 p.m. in Room 256-S, Centre Block, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Leonard J. Gustafson, presiding. Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Chalifoux, Finestone, Gill, Gustafson, Hubley, Oliver, Sparrow, Tkachuk, Tunney and Wiebe (10). Other senators present: The Honourable Senator De Bané, P.C. (1). In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: June Dewetering. Also present: The official reporters of the Senate. Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, June 12, 2001, the Committee began consideration of Bill C-25, An Act to amend the Farm Credit Corporation Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts. APPEARING: Mr. Larry McCormick, M.P., Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food. WITNESS: From the Farm Credit Corporation: John Ryan, President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. McCormick made an opening statement and with Mr. Ryan, answered questions. The Honourable Senator Oliver moved, - That the committee proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-25. The question being put on the motion, it was agreed.
