The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day, in room 705, Victoria Building, at 3:41 p.m., the Chairman, the Honourable Michael Kirby, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Callbeck, Carstairs, Cook, Gill, Kirby, Keon and LeBreton (7).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Grafstein and Roche (2).
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Jack Stilborn.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, February 22, 2000, the committee began its consideration of Bill S-5, An Act to amend the Parliament of Canada Act (Parliamentary Poet Laureate).
