The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 5:30 p.m., in Room 256-S, Centre Block, the Chair, the Honourable Lise Bacon, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Bacon, Callbeck, Finestone, P.C., Forrestall, Gill, Kirby, Perrault, P.C. and Spivak (9).
In attendance: The official reporters of the Senate and Martin Brennan, Special advisor.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on May 30, 2000, the Committee proceeded to study Bill C-26. (See Issue No. 14, Monday, June 5 , 2000 for full text of the Order of Reference.
It was agreed -- That the Committee move to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-26.
It was agreed -- That the title stand postponed.
It was agreed -- That the preamble stand postponed.
It was agreed -- That clauses 1 to 8 carry.
It was agreed -- That clauses 9 to 10 carry.
It was agreed -- That clauses 11 to 15 carry.
It was agreed -- That clause 16 carry.
It was agreed -- That clauses 17 to 19 carry.
It was agreed -- That clauses 20 and 21 carry.
It was agreed -- That the Preamble carry.
It was agreed -- That the Title carry.
It was agreed -- That the Bill carry.
It was agreed -- That the Committee proceed in camera.
It was agreed -- That the staff be allowed to remain in the room, on division.
It was agreed -- That the observations, with the modifications proposed, be included with the report.
It was agreed -- That the Chair report the Bill, as adopted, with observations, at the next sitting of the Senate.
At 6:32 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
