The Standing Committee on Banking, Trade and commerce met at 11:05 a.m. this day, in room 505, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Kolber, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Di Nino, Fitzpatrick, Furey, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Kolber, Kroft, Meighen, Oliver, Poulin, Setlakwe and Tkachuk (11).
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament, Law and Government Division: Mr. Geoff Kieley, Research Officer.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, February 5, 2002, the committee continued its examination of Bill C-23, An Act to amend the Competition Act and the Competition Tribunal Act.

Mr. Lastewka made a statement and, with Mr. McTeague, answered questions.
At 11:45, Mr. von Finckenstein made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
It was agreed that the document entitled ``Proposed Terms of Reference — Review of the provisions contained in Bill C-23, An Act to amend the Competition Act and the Competition Tribunal Act be tabled with the Clerk of the Committee.
At 12:55 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
