The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 9:34 a.m., this day, in Room 705, Victoria Building, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Murray, P.C., presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bolduc, Cools, Finnerty, Ferretti Barth, Murray, P.C., Tunney, Wiebe (7).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Moore (1).
In attendance: Mr. Guy Beaumier, Research Officer, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Tony Whitworth, Vice-President, Finance & Resources University of Saskatchewan;
Duncan Watt, Vice-President, Finance & Administration Carleton University;

David Cluff, Director, Strategic Policy and Planning.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on June 13, 2001, the committee continued its examination of the role of government in the financing of deferred maintenance costs in Canada's post-secondary institutions.
Mr. Watt and Mr. Giroux each made an opening statement and, with Mr. Whitworth, Mr. Cohen and Mr. Best, answered questions from members of the committee.
Mr. Cluff made an opening statement and answered questions from members of the committee.
