The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries met this dayat 7:06 p.m. in room 505, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Gerald J. Comeau, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Comeau, Cook, Jaffer, Johnson, Mahovlich, Phalen, Tunney and Watt (9).

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament: Claude Emery, Research Officer.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

WITNESSES:

From the International Institute for Sustainable Development:

Dr. Arthur J. Hanson.

From 2WE Associates Consulting Ltd.:

Mr. Geoffrey L. Holland, Consultant.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 13, 2001, the committee continued its examination upon the matters relating to the fishing industry. (See Issue No. 1, March 20, 2001, for the full text of the Order of Reference.)

Dr. Hanson made a statement and answered questions.

Mr. Holland made a statement and answered questions.

It was agreed - That the material provided by the International Institute for Sustainable Development and the 2WE Associates Consulting Ltd. be filed as an exhibit with the Clerk of the Committee (Exhibit 5900 F1-SS-1, 13 "32").

At 9:16 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
