The Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs met this day, in camera, at 3:58 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the Honourable Senator Furey, Chair, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Baker, P.C., Beaudoin, Cools, Furey and Joyal, P.C. (6).

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Nancy Holmes and Gérald Lafrenière.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

The committee proceeded to discuss the consideration of a draft budget.

At 4:17 p.m., the committee resumed in public.

The Honourable Senator Beaudoin moved — That, the following budget application be approved for submission to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration, subject to the granting by the Senate of authority to engage the service of personnel:
