The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met at 3:45 p.m., this day, in room 705, Victoria Building, the Deputy Chair, the Honourable Marjory LeBreton, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Callbeck, Cook, Cordy, Fairbairn, P.C., Keon, LeBreton, Léger, Morin and Roche (9).

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Monique Hébert.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, October 23, 2002, the Committee continued its consideration of Bill C-8, An Act to protect human health and safety and the environment by regulating products used for the control of pests. (For complete text of Order of Reference see Proceedings of the Committee, Issue No. 3, dated November 7, 2002.)

Ms. Sheila Clarke.

The Deputy Chair made a statement.

Ms. Kasperski, Mr. Khatter and Ms. Cooper made statements and answered questions.

Ms. Clarke and Ms. Langer made statements and answered questions.

At 5:48 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
