The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 9:33 a.m., in room 505, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Joan Fraser, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Andreychuk, Corbin, Day, Eyton, Fraser, Graham, P.C., Gustafson, LaPierre, Merchant, and Phalen (11).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Beaudoin, Jaffer, and Murray, P.C. (3).
In attendance: Allison Padova, Research Analyst, Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 11, 2004, the committee continued its examination of Bill C-7, An Act to amend certain Acts of Canada, and to enact measures for implementing the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention, in order to enhance public safety. It was moved by the Honourable Senator Day that the committee proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-7.
After debate, the Honourable Senator Andreychuk moved that the motion of the Honourable Senator Day be amended to read ``That the Committee defer clause-by-clause consideration of the Bill until the next Committee meeting in order to hear additional witnesses.''

The draft report was adopted.
