The Senate resumed debate on the motion of the Honourable Senator Mitchell, seconded by the Honourable Senator Trenholme Counsell, for the second reading of Bill C-288, An Act to ensure Canada meets its global climate change obligations under the Kyoto Protocol.

After debate,

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted, on division.

The bill was then read the second time, on division.

The Honourable Senator Mitchell moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Hubley, that the bill be referred to the Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources.
