The Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages met this day at 10 a.m. in the Jade Room of the Atlantic Host hotel, the chair, the Honourable Maria Chaput, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Champagne, P.C., Chaput, Losier-Cool and Murray, P.C. (4).

Other Senator present: The Honourable Senator Corbin.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament, Tanya Dupuis, analyst.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, November 20, 2007, the committee continued to study the application of the Official Languages Act and of the regulations and directives made under it, within those institutions subject to the act. (For the full text of the Order of Reference, see Issue No. 1 of the committee proceedings.)

Mr. Brunet and Mr. Frénette made presentations and answered questions.

At 11 a.m., the committee suspended.
