Resuming debate on the motion of the Honorable Senator Goldstein, seconded by the Honourable Senator Cordy, for the second reading of Bill S-232, An Act amend the Patent Act (drugs for international humanitarian purposes) and to make a consequential amendment to another Act.

The bill was then read the second time, on division.

The Honourable Senator Carstairs, P.C., moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Chaput, that the bill be referred to the Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce.
