The Special Senate Committee on Anti-terrorism met at 12:59 p.m. this day, in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Hugh Segal, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Jaffer, Joyal, P.C., Plett, Segal, Smith, P.C., Tkachuk, Wallace and Wallin (8).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Baker, P.C.(1).
In attendance: Jennifer Bird, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, June 17, 2010, the committee began its examination of Bill S-7, An Act to deter terrorism and to amend the State Immunity Act.

The chair made an opening statement.
Minister Toews made a statement and, together with Ms. Galadza and Ms. Levesque, answered questions.
Ms. Deault-Bonin was invited to the table and, together with Ms. Galadza and Ms. Levesque, answered questions.
At 2:54 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
