The Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day at 4 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Pamela Wallin, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dallaire, Day, Marshall, Munson, Pépin, Plett, Segal and Wallin (8).
In attendance: Holly Porteous, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; and Karen Schwinghamer, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, the committee began its consideration of Bill S-13, An Act to implement the Framework Agreement on Integrated Cross-Border Maritime Law Enforcement Operations between the Government of Canada and the Government of the United States of America.

At 4:56 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 5:02 p.m., pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, the committee continued its study on the national security and defence policies of Canada. His Excellency Justin Brown made a statement and, together with Bruce Soar and Dot Harvey, answered questions.
At 5:53 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 6:01 p.m., pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, the committee continued its consideration of Bill S-13, An Act to implement the Framework Agreement on Integrated Cross-Border Maritime Law Enforcement Operations between the Government of Canada and the Government of the United States of America.
Chief Superintendant Brian Deevy and Deputy Chief Jerome Brannagan each made a statement and together with Staff Sergeant Brad R. Schlorff and Superintendant Vince Power answered questions.
At 6:48 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
