The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met this day, at 5:16 p.m., in room 257 East Block, the chair, the Honourable W. David Angus, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Angus, Banks, Brown, Campbell, Dickson, Frum, Lang, Massicotte, Mitchell, Neufeld and Seidman (11).

In attendance: Marc LeBlanc and Sam Banks, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; Ceri Au, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 11, 2010, the committee continued its examination of the current state and future of Canada's energy sector (including alternative energy). (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1)

WITNESS:

Nuclear Waste Management Organization:

Ken Nash, President.

The chair made an opening statement.

Mr. Nash made a statement and answered questions.

At 6:56 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.

Gaétan Caron, Chair and CEO;

Bharat Dixit, Team Leader, Conservation of Resources.

The chair made an opening statement.

Mr. Caron made a statement and, together with Mr. Dixit, answered questions.
