The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met in camera this day at 5:05 p.m., in room 505, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Bill Rompkey, P.C., presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Chaput, Cochrane, MacDonald, Manning, Martin, Nancy Ruth, Patterson, Poy, Rompkey, P.C., and Runciman (10).
In attendance: Claude Emery, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 25, 2010, the committee continued to examine issues relating to the federal government's current and evolving policy framework for managing Canada's fisheries and oceans. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1.)
Pursuant to rule 92(2)(f), the committee considered a draft budget.
After debate, it was agreed that the following special study supplementary budget application (policy framework for managing Canada's fisheries and oceans), for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2011, be adopted and submitted to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budget and Administration:

At 5:48 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.

Ms. Quinn made a statement and, together with Mr. Wiebe, answered questions.
At 6:48 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 6:50 p.m., pursuant to rule 92(2)f), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).
At 7:01 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
