The Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages met this day at 9:25 a.m. at the Morrin Centre, College Hall, the Chair, the Honourable Maria Chaput, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Champagne, P.C., Chaput, Dawson, De Bané, P.C., Fortin-Duplessis, Fraser and Seidman (7).

In attendance: Marie-Ève Hudon, analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; and Francine Pressault, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, the committee continued to examine the application of the Official Languages Act and of the regulations and directives made under it. At 11:49 a.m., the committee suspended.

The committee resumed at 12 noon.

Messrs. Deslauriers and Dumas made opening statements and along with Ms. Lessard, Ms. Maurice and Ms. Buffitt, answered questions.

At 12:55 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
