The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met this day, at 8:05 a.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable W. David Angus, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Angus, Brown, Dickson, Kenny, Massicotte, Mitchell, Neufeld, Peterson, Seidman and Wallace (10).
In attendance: Marc LeBlanc and Sam Banks, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, June 16, 2011, the committee continued its examination of the current state and future of Canada's energy sector (including alternative energy).
WITNESSES:

Patrick Bateman, Policy and Research Analyst.
Enfinity Canada Ltd.:
Chris Young, Managing Director.
The chair made an opening statement.
Mr. Bateman and Mr. Young made a statement and together, answered questions.
At 9:22 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 9:26 a.m., the committee, pursuant to rule 92(2)(e), resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).
At 9:48 a.m., the committee resumed in public for consideration of a draft budget application.
It was agreed that the following special study budget application (energy sector), for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2012, be approved, that the chair and deputy chair be empowered to make revisions to the application if required, and that the chair be authorized to submit the application to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration.
