The Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages met this day at 4:35 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Maria Chaput, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Chaput, De Bané, P.C., Fortin-Duplessis, Mockler, Nolin, Poirier and Robichaud, P.C. (7).
In attendance: Marie-Ève Hudon, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament, and David Charbonneau, Communications Officer, Senate Communications Directorate.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, the committee continued its study on the use of the Internet, new media and social media, and the respect for Canadians' language rights. Ms. O'Halloran made a statement and answered questions.
At 4:56 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 4:58 p.m., pursuant to rule 92(2)(e), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).
At 5:06 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 5:07 p.m., the committee resumed in public.
Ms. O'Halloran continued to answer questions.
At 5:35 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
