The Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day at 12:06 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Roméo Antonius Dallaire, presiding.
Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Dallaire, Day, Plett and Nolin (4).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Frum (1).
In attendance: Martin Auger, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, and delegated on Monday, October 3, 2011 by the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence, the subcommittee commenced its study on the services and benefits provided to members of the Canadian Forces; to veterans; to members and former members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and their families.

Guy Parent, Veterans Ombudsman;
Gary Walbourne, Director General, Operations;
Diane Guilmet-Harris, Legal Counsel.
Mr. Parent made an opening statement and, together with Mr. Walbourne and Ms. Guilmet-Harris, answered questions.
At 1:20 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the chair.
