The Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day at 12:05 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Roméo Antonius Dallaire, presiding.
Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Dallaire, Day, Nolin and Plett (4).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Manning (1).
In attendance: Martin Auger, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, and delegated on Monday, October 3, 2011 by the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence, the subcommittee continued its study on the services and benefits provided to members of the Canadian Forces; to veterans; to members and former members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and their families. WITNESSES:
Canadian Pacific (CP):
Paul Wajda, General Manager of Human Resources, Planning and Development.
Canadian National (CN):
Christine Joanis, Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition;
Nancy Villeneuve, Sourcing Manager.
Mr. Wajda and Ms. Joanis each made a statement and, together with Ms. Villeneuve, all the witnesses answered questions.
At 1:10 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 1:12 p.m., pursuant to rule 92(2)(e), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).
It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to remain in the room for today's meeting.
At 1:24 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
