The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 3 p.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Buth, Callbeck, Chaput, Dallaire, Day, Gerstein, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., McIntyre, Mockler and Smith (Saurel) (11).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Raphaëlle Deraspe, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; Francine Pressault, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate of the Senate.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 7, 2013, the committee began its examination of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2013-2014.

WITNESSES:

Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat:

Bill Matthews, Assistant Secretary, Expenditure Management Sector;

Marcia Santiago, Acting Executive Director, Expenditure Management Sector;

Steve Tremblay, Portfolio Director.

Mr. Matthews made a statement and, together with Ms. Santiago and Mr. Tremblay, answered questions.

At 4:15 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the chair.
