The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 4:38 p.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Buth, Callbeck, Dallaire, Day, Gerstein, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., McIntyre, Mockler, and Smith (Saurel) (10).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Raphaëlle Deraspe, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; Francine Pressault, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate of the Senate.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, the committee continued its examination of the subject-matter of Bill C-4, A second Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 21, 2013 and other measures. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1.)

The Honourable James Flaherty, P.C., M.P., made a statement and, together with Mr. Keenan and Mr. Rudin, answered questions.

At 5:45 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the chair.
