The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 9:30 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Buth, Callbeck, Chaput, Day, Eaton, Rivard and Smith (Saurel) (8).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Raphaëlle Deraspe, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 7, 2013, the committee continued its examination of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2013-2014. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 2.)

WITNESSES:

Health Canada:

Jamie Tibbetts, Assistant Deputy Minister and Chief Financial Officer, Chief Financial Officer Branch;

Michel Roy, Senior Deputy Minister, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch.

Public Works and Government Services Canada:

Alex Lakroni, Chief Financial Officer, Finance Branch;

Brigitte Fortin, Assistant Deputy Minister, Accounting, Banking and Compensation Branch.

Mr. Tibbetts made a statement and, together with Mr. Roy, answered questions.

Mr. Lakroni made a statement and, together with Ms. Fortin, answered questions.

At 11:13 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 11:14 a.m., the committee resumed.

The committee discussed its future agenda.

At 11:20 a.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the chair.
