The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 10:02 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Larry W. Smith, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Buth, Callbeck, Chaput, Eaton, Day, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Mockler, Seth and Smith (Saurel) (10).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Raphaëlle Deraspe, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 7, 2013, the committee continued its examination of the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2014. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 4.)

WITNESSES:

Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada:

Chantal Bernier, Interim Privacy Commissioner;

Daniel Nadeau, Director General and Chief Financial Officer;

Maureen Munhall, Director, Human Resources Management.

Ms. Bernier made a statement and, together with Mr. Nadeau and Ms. Munhall, answered questions.

At 11:13 a.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the chair.
