The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 9:30 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Buth, Callbeck, Chaput, Day, Gerstein, Mockler, Oh, Smith (Saurel) and Tkachuk (10).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Raphaëlle Deraspe, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, the committee continued its examination of the Supplementary Estimates (C) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2014. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 7.)

WITNESSES:

Shared Services Canada:

Benoît Long, Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, Transformation, Service Strategy and Design;

Peter Bruce, Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, Projects and Client Relationships;

Micheline Saurette, Director General, Finance and DCFO Services.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada:

Tony Matson, Assistant Deputy Minister/Chief Financial Officer;

Catrina Tapley, Associate Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic and Program Policy;

Paul Armstrong, Director General, Centralized Processing Region.

Mr. Long and Mr. Matson each made a statement and, together with Mr. Bruce, Ms. Saurette, Ms. Tapley and Mr. Armstrong, answered questions.

At 10:56 a.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the chair.
