The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 6:45 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Chaput, Day, Eaton, Gerstein, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Ogilvie, Smith (Saurel) and Wallace (9).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Raphaëlle Deraspe, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, May 14, 2015, the committee continued its examination of the Supplementary Estimates (A) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2016.

WITNESSES:

Marine Atlantic Inc.:

Paul Griffin, President and CEO.

Parks Canada:

Alan Latourelle, Chief Executive Officer.

Atomic Energy of Canada Limited:

Jonathan Lundy, Chief Transition Officer;

David Smith, Vice President of Operations.

Natural Resources Canada:

Kami Ramcharan, Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Management Services Sector and Chief Financial Officer;

Niall O'Dea, Director General, Electricity Resources Branch, Energy Sector;

Daniel Lebel, Director General, Atlantic and Western Canada Branch, Geological Survey of Canada, Earth Sciences Sector.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada:

Marty Muldoon, Assistant Deputy Minister and Chief Financial Officer;

Kevin Stringer, Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, Ecosystems and Fisheries Management;

Michel Vermette, Deputy Commissioner, Vessel Procurement.

Mr. Griffin and Mr. Latourelle each made a statement and answered questions.

At 7:47 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 7:50 p.m., the committee resumed.

Ms. Ramcharan, Mr. Lundy and Mr. Muldoon each made a statement and, together with Mr. O'Dea, Mr. Lebel, Mr. Smith, Mr. Vermette and Mr. Stringer, answered questions.

At 8:40 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
