The Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages met this day at 5 p.m., in room 9 of the Victoria Building.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Chaput, Charette-Poulin, Fortin-Duplessis, Marshall, Oh and Rivard (6).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Robichaud, P.C. (1).
In attendance: Marie-Ève Hudon, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
The clerk informed the committee of the unavoidable absence of the chair and deputy chair, and presided over the election of an acting chair.
The Honourable Senator Charette-Poulin moved:
That the Honourable Senator Fortin-Duplessis be elected acting chair.
The question being put on the motion, it was agreed.
The acting chair took the chair.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 21, 2013, the committee continued its study on the impacts of recent changes to the immigration system on official language minority communities. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 4.)
