The Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights met this day at 5:05 p.m. in room 160-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Mobina S. B. Jaffer, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Eggleton, P.C., Hubley, Jaffer, LeBreton, P.C., Martin, Seidman and Unger (8).
In attendance: Julia Nicol and Shauna Troniak, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee proceeded in camera to consider a draft agenda.
It was agreed that senators' staff be allowed to stay in the room.
At 5:34 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 5:40 p.m., the committee resumed in public.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, the committee began its study to monitor issues relating to human rights and, inter alia, to review the machinery of government dealing with Canada's international and national human rights obligations

Mr. Bernstein, Ms. Wolff and Ms. Vandergrift each made a statement and answered questions.
At 7:05 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
