The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 9:30 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Michael L. MacDonald, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black, Doyle, Eggleton, P.C., Greene, MacDonald, Runciman and Unger (7).
In attendance: Jed Chong and Nicole Sweeney, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament; and Victor Senna, Procedural Clerk, Senate Committee Directorate
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, the committee continued its study on the development of a strategy to facilitate the transport of crude oil to eastern Canadian refineries and to ports on the East and West coasts of Canada. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 2.)

The deputy chair made a statement.
Ms. Krause made a statement and answered questions.
At 10:30 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 10:32 a.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee proceeded in camera to consider a draft agenda (Future business).
It was agreed that the Honourable Senator Eggleton, P.C., would replace Senator Mercer as the third member of the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure for the next two weeks.
DECLARATIONS OF PRIVATE INTERESTS
Pursuant to subsection 12(1) and 12(4) of the Ethics and Conflict of Interest Code for Senators, a declaration of private interests was made as follows:
By oral declaration, the Honourable Senator Black (special study on the deployment of connected and automated vehicles).
At 10:43 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
