The Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration met this day at 9 a.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the deputy chair, the Honourable Jane Cordy, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Batters, Campbell, Cordy, Downe, Dupuis, Housakos, Jaffer, Lankin, P.C., Marshall, Marwah, McCoy, Mitchell, Munson, Ngo, Omidvar, Smith, Tkachuk and Wells (18).
Also in attendance: Nicole Proulx, Chief Corporate Services Officer and Clerk of the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration; Charles Robert, Clerk of the Senate and Chief Legislative Officer; Michel Patrice, Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel and Chief, Parliamentary Precinct Services; and other senior Senate officials.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to rule 12-7(1) of the Rules of the Senate, the committee continued its consideration of financial and administrative matters concerning the Senate's internal administration.

The committee considered the Minutes of Proceedings of February 9, 2017, in public portion.
The Honourable Senator Marshall moved:
That the Minutes of Proceedings of February 9, 2017, in public portion, be adopted.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

Bruce Stanton and the Honourable Senator Housakos made statements and, together with Colette Labrecque-Riel, answered questions.
After debate, the Honourable Senator Tkachuk moved:
That approval be granted to host the 15th Plenary Assembly of ParlAmericas in Victoria, Canada, from September 9 to 12, 2018, and
That temporary funding of $25,000 be approved for fiscal year 2017-2018 and of $465,210 for fiscal year 2018- 2019 for a total of $490,210 which would be shared using the usual formula (30 per cent Senate, 70 per cent House of Commons) between the Senate ($147,063) and the House of Commons ($343,147).
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
