The Standing Senate Committee of National Finance met this day at 2:15 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black, Cools, Dagenais, Eaton, Forest, Marshall, Mockler, Neufeld and Pratte (9).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 23, 2017, the committee continued its study of Supplementary Estimates (B) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2018.

WITNESSES:

Canada Revenue Agency:

Janique Caron, Acting Assistant Commissioner, Finance and Administration Branch, and Agency Comptroller;

Ted Gallivan, Assistant Commissioner, International, Large Business and Investigations Branch.

Ms. Caron made a statement, and together with Mr. Gallivan, answered questions.

At 3:25 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 3:27 p.m., the committee resumed.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, the committee continued its study on the Minister of Finance's proposed changes to the Income Tax Act respecting the taxation of private corporations and the tax planning strategies involved. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 39.)

WITNESSES:

Office of the Parliamentary Budget Officer:

Jean-Denis Fréchette, Parliamentary Budget Officer;

Mostafa Askari, Deputy Parliamentary Budget Officer;

Govindadeva Bernier, Financial Analyst.

Mr. Fréchette made a statement and, together with Mr. Askari and Mr. Bernier, answered questions.

At 4:14 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
