The Senate Standing Committee on National Finance met this day at 1:30 p.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Cools, Eaton, Forest, Marshall, Mockler, Ngo and Pratte (8).

In attendance: Alex Smith and Sylvain Fleury, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February 15, 2018, the committee continued its examination of Supplementary Estimates (C) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2018.

WITNESSES:

Royal Canadian Mounted Police:

Daniel Dubeau, Acting Commissioner;

Dennis Watters, Chief Financial and Administrative Officer.

Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces:

Julie Charron, Associate Assistant Deputy Minister (Finance) and Deputy Chief Financial Officer;

Patrick Finn, Assistant Deputy Minister (Materiel).

Health Canada:

Randy Larkin, Assistant Deputy Minister and Chief Financial Officer, Chief Financial Officer Branch;

Edward De Sousa, Director General, Resource Management Directorate;

Todd Cain, Director General, Organization and Launch Directorate.

Office of the Parliamentary Budget Officer:

Jason Jacques, Senior Director, Costing and Budgetary Analysis;

Jason Stanton, Financial Analyst.

Mr. Dubeau, Ms. Charron and Mr. Larkin each made a statement and, together with Mr. Finn, Mr. Watters and Mr. Cain, answered questions.

At 2:54 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 2:59 p.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Jacques made a statement and answered questions.

At 3:47 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
