The Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages met this day at 5:30 p.m., in room 257, East Block.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Jaffer, McIntyre, Mockler, Munson and Seidman (5).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Gagné (1).
In attendance: Marie-Ève Hudon, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
The clerk of the committee informed the senators present of the unavoidable absence of the chair and deputy chair and presided over the election of an acting chair.
The Honourable Senator Mockler moved:
That the Honourable Senator McIntyre do take the chair of the committee.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
The Honourable Senator McIntyre took the chair.
At 5:33 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 5:41 p.m., the committee resumed.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, the committee continued its study on the application of the Official Languages Act and of the regulations and directives made under it, within those institutions subject to the Act. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 2.)

WITNESSES:

Minister McCallum made a statement and, together with Ms. Beck and Ms. Prince St-Amand, answered questions.
At 6:57 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
