The Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages met this day at 5:04 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Claudette Tardif, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Gagné, Maltais, Mégie, Moncion, Oh, Poirier and Tardif (7).
In attendance: Maxime Fortin, clerk, Senate Committees Directorate; Marie-Ève Hudon, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament; Marcy Galipeau, Committees and Outreach Officer, Senate Communications Directorate.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, April 6, 2017, the committee continued its study and report on Canadians' views about modernizing the Official Languages Act. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 2.)

The chair made a statement.
Mr. Foucher made a statement and answered questions.
At 6:02 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 6:04 p.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d) the committee resumed in camera to examine a draft report.
At 6:13 p.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee continued in camera to examine a draft agenda (future business).
At 6:32 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
