Your Committee heard from 87 witnesses, held 41 meetings, reviewed one Bill (C-27) and issued 4 reports in the last session.
Among the reports issued by the Committee on these matters was the "Privatization and Quota Licensing in Canada's Fisheries". The Committee made 10 major recommendations.

The Special Committee of the Senate on Security and Intelligence, which was empowered by the Senate to incur expenses for the purpose of its examination upon matters relating to the threat posed to Canada by terrorism and counter-terrorism activities of the Government of Canada, reports, pursuant to Rule 104, that the expenses incurred by the Committee during the First Session of the Thirty-sixth Parliament are as follows:

The committee heard a total of 97 witnesses through 20 meetings.
In addition, the Committee participated in briefings during site visits at several locations. Forty-two persons, located both in Canada and elsewhere, were interviewed for purposes of the Committee's work, but did not appear before the Committee.
The mandate of the Committee included reporting on the current international threat environment, the threat assessment capability of the Government of Canada, the leadership role, preparedness, etc. of those departments and agencies of the Government of Canada with counter-terrorism responsibilities and the level of international cooperation between Canada and its allies.

It also participated in the National Transportation Safety Board Symposium, and the Transportation Research Board 78th Annual Meeting, both held in Washington, D.C.

In particular, the Committee shall be authorized to examine:
1. The progress on the implementation of the unanimous recommendations made in the report;
2. Developments in Canada respecting the issues dealt with in the report;
3. Developments in foreign jurisdictions respecting the issues dealt with in the report; and
That the Committee submit its final report no later than June 6, 2000.
