Tabling of Reports from Inter-Parliamentary Delegations

The Honourable Senator Rivard tabled the following:

Report of the Canadian Delegation of the Canada-Europe Parliamentary Association respecting its participation at the 36th Interparliamentary Meeting with the European Parliament's Delegation responsible for the relations with Canada and parliamentary mission to the country that will next hold the rotating presidency, held in Brussels, Belgium; Berlin, Germany; and Riga, Latvia, from November 10 to 20, 2014.—Sessional Paper No. 2/41-1065.

Bills — Third Reading

Resuming debate on the motion of the Honourable Senator McIntyre, seconded by the Honourable Senator White, for the third reading of Bill C-47, An Act to correct certain anomalies, inconsistencies and errors and to deal with other matters of a non-controversial and uncomplicated nature in the Statutes of Canada and to repeal certain provisions that have expired, lapsed or otherwise ceased to have effect.

After debate,

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

The bill was then read the third time and passed.

Ordered, That a message be sent to the House of Commons to acquaint that House that the Senate has passed this bill, without amendment.

The Honourable Senator Fraser moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Cowan, that further debate on the motion be adjourned until the next sitting.

MESSAGES FROM THE HOUSE OF COMMONS

A message was brought from the House of Commons with a Bill C-586, An Act to amend the Canada Elections Act and the Parliament of Canada Act (candidacy and caucus reforms), to which it desires the concurrence of the Senate.

The bill was read the first time.

The Honourable Senator Martin moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator MacDonald, that the bill be placed on the Orders of the Day for a second reading two days hence.
