The Special Committee of the Senate on the Pearson Airport Agreements met this day, at 9:40 a.m., the Honourable Senator MacDonald, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: The Honourable Senators Bosa (morning session), Bryden, Grafstein (afternoon session) Hervieux-Payette, Jessiman, LeBreton, MacDonald and Tkachuk. (7)

Other Senator Present: Kinsella

In attendance: John Nelligan, Q.C., Counsel to the Committee.

WITNESSES:

From the Department of Transport:

Victor Barbeau, Assistant Deputy Minister, Airports;

Ed Warrick (retired), Project General Manager, Major Crown Projects, Pearson Airport.

From The Treasury Board Secretariat:

Al Clayton, Executive Director, Bureau of Real Property and Material.

From Public Works and Government Services:

Stephen Turner, Director, Central Government Services Review Directorate, Audit and Evaluation Branch.

From Vancouver Local Airport Authority:

David Emerson, President and Chief Executive Officer.

The Committee resumed its examination of the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on May 4, 1995. The Clerk of the Committee administered the oath/solemn affirmation and declaration to the witnesses, pursuant to s.13 of the Parliament of Canada Act.

The witnesses made a statement and answered questions.

At 12:00 p.m. the Committee recessed.

At 1:30 p.m. the Committee resumed.

At 5:00 p.m. the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
