The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Forestry has the honour to present its

FOURTH REPORT

Your Committee was authorized by the Senate on February 11, 2003 to examine the issues related to the development and domestic and international marketing of value-added agricultural, agri-food and forest products.

Pursuant to Section 2:07 of the Procedural Guidelines for the Financial Operations of Senate Committees, the Budget submitted to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration and the report of said Committee are appended to this report.

APPLICATION FOR BUDGET AUTHORIZATION FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING MARCH 31, 2004

ORDER OF REFERENCE

Extract from the Journals of the Senate, Tuesday, February 11, 2003:

The Honourable Senator Oliver moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Lynch- Staunton:

That the Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry be authorized to examine issues related to the development and domestic and international marketing of value-added agricultural, agri-food and forest products; and

That the Committee submit its final report no later than June 30, 2004.

After debate,

In amendment, the Honourable Senator Robichaud, P.C., moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Oliver, that the motion be amended by replacing the words ``June 30'' by the words ``May 31''.

The question being put on the motion in amendment, it was adopted.

The question then being put on the motion, as amended, it was adopted.

The Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration has examined the budget presented to it by the Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry for the proposed expenditures of the said Committee for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2004 for the purpose of its Special Study on the marketing for value-added products, as authorized by the Senate on Tuesday, February 11, 2003.
