The Special Senate Committee on Aging met this day at 12:32 p.m. in room 9, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Sharon Carstairs, P.C., presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Carstairs, P.C., Chaput and Murray, P.C. (3).
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Michael Toye and Julie Cool, Research Analysts.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, November 7, the committee continued its examination of the implications of an aging society in Canada. (For the full text of the Order of Reference, see Issue No. 1, Monday, November 27, 2006.)

The Chairman made an opening statement.

At 1:57 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 2:03 p.m., the committee resumed.
The Chairman made a statement.
Ms. Chiappa, Ms. Leaney and Mr. Racine made presentations and, with the assistance of Ms. Spencer, answered questions.
It was agreed that the document "Summary of the Visit to the Elizabeth Bruyere Research Institute (May 18, 2007)," and other related documents, become part of the record of the committee's proceedings.
At 3:18 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
