The Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages met this day in camera at 4 p.m., in room 505, Victoria Building, the Chairman, the Honourable Maria Chaput, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Chaput, Comeau, Jaffer, Keon, Losier-Cool, Murray, P.C., and Tardif (7).
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Marie-Ève Hudon and Élyse Hurtubise- Loranger.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, April 27, 2006, the committee proceeded to study, for the purpose of reporting from time to time on, the application of the Official Languages Act and of the regulations and directives made under it, within those institutions subject to the act. (For the full text of the Order of Reference, see Issue No. 2, Monday, May 15, 2006.)
Pursuant to rule 92(2)(f), the committee considered a draft report.
It was agreed that senators' staff as well as the communications officer assigned to the committee be permitted to remain in the room while the committee sits in camera.
Pursuant to rule 92(2)(e), the members considered a draft agenda.
At 5:55 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.

The Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages met in camera at 4:04 p.m. this day, in room 505 of the Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Maria Chaput presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Chaput, Comeau, Keon, Murray, P.C. and Tardif (5).
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament: Marie-Ève Hudon and Élise Hurtubise-Loranger.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, April 27, 2006, the committee continued its study on the application of the Official Languages Act and of the regulations and directives made under it, within those institutions subject to the Act. (See Issue No. 2, Monday, May 15, 2006, for the full text of the Order of Reference.)
Pursuant to rule 92(2)(f), the committee considered a draft report.
It was agreed that staff and the communications officer assigned to the committee be permitted to stay in the room whiles the committee sits in camera.
It was agreed that the draft report on the Unauthorized disclosure of the 5th report of the committee entitled: Reflecting Canada's Linguistic Duality at the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games: A Golden Opportunity be adopted and that the Chair table the report at the next sitting of the Senate.
It was agreed that the draft report entitled: Relocation of Head Offices of Federal Institutions: Respect for Language Rights be adopted and that the Steering Committee be authorized to make the changes that were discussed and approved by the members, as well as the minor typographical and grammatical corrections deemed necessary, without however modifying the substance of the report and that the Chair table this report in the Senate at the earliest opportunity.
Pursuant to rule 92(2)(e), the committee considered a draft agenda.
At 4:30 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.
