The Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament met this day, in camera, at 12:21 p.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the Chair, the Honourable Consiglio Di Nino, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Cordy, Di Nino, Hays, P.C., Joyal, P.C., Keon, Losier-Cool, Robichaud, P.C., and Stratton (9).
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament, James Robertson, Analyst and Michel Bédard, Analyst; from the Senate of Canada, Charles Robert, Principal Clerk, Chamber and Procedure Office and Heather Lank, Principal Clerk, Committees Directorate.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to rule 86(1)(f)(i), the committee proceeded to consideration of a draft report on the notice requirements for questions of privilege.
It was agreed that staff remain.
Mr. Robertson was asked to brief the committee on the latest revisions to the draft report.
Mr. Robert assisted in the briefing.
The Honourable Senator Robichaud moved:
That the Chair be authorized to make minor technical editorial changes;
That the report be adopted and that the Chair be authorized to report to the Senate.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
At 1:15 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
