The Senate Subcommittee on Cities met this day at 9 a.m., in Salon E&F, Delta Hotel, the chair, the Honourable Art Eggleton, P.C., presiding.

Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Cordy, Eggleton, P.C., Munson and Trenholme Counsell (4).

In attendance: Brian O'Neal and Havi Echenberg, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 and delegated on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 by the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology, the subcommittee continued its examination of poverty, housing and homelessness. APPEARING:

WITNESSES:

David Blackmore, Director of Building and Property Management.

Mr. Skinner made a statement and, with Ms. Vivian-Book, Ms. Gogan and Ms. King, responded to questions.

At 10:30 a.m., the subcommittee suspended.

At 10:50 a.m., the subcommittee resumed.

Ms. Duff made a statement and, with Mr. Blackmore, responded to questions.

At 12 p.m., it was agreed that the subcommittee adjourn to the call of the chair.

Ms. Payne, Ms. Davidge, Ms. Pollett, Ms. Healey, Ms. Johns, Mr. Walters, Ms. Joe, Ms. Rowe, Ms. Collins Ms. Foster and Mr. Galloway participated in a roundtable discussion.

At 3 p.m., the subcommittee suspended.

At 3:15 p.m., the subcommittee resumed.

The roundtable discussion continued.

At 4 p.m., the subcommittee suspended.

At 4:10 p.m., the subcommittee resumed.

The chair invited members of the public to make statements.

Mr. Winsor, Ms. Best and Mr. Eddy each made a statement and responded to questions.

At 4:50 p.m., it was agreed that the subcommittee adjourn to the call of the chair.
