The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day, at 9:16 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Callbeck, Day, Frum, Gerstein, Marshall, Moore, Nancy Ruth, Neufeld, Runciman and Stratton (10).

In attendance: John Bulmer and Sylvain Fleury, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; and Jean-Pierre Morin, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, June 9, 2011, the committee continued its examination of the expenditures set out in the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2012. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1.)

WITNESSES:

Office of the Procurement Ombudsman:

Frank Brunetta, Procurement Ombudsman.

Public Works and Government Services Canada:

Normand Masse, Director General, Services and Technology Acquisition Management Sector;

Alain Vauclair, Director General, Policy Risk, Integrity and Strategic Management Sector.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Masse made a statement and, together with Mr. Vauclair, answered questions.

Mr. Brunetta made a statement and answered questions.

The witnesses answered questions.

At 10:47 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
