The Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met in camera this day 12:13 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the deputy chair, the Honourable Donald Neil Plett, presiding.
Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Day, Nolin, Plett and Wallin (4).
In attendance: Martin Auger and Jean-Rodrique Paré, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, and delegated on Monday October 3, 2011 by the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence, the subcommittee continued its study on the services and benefits provided to members of the Canadian Forces; to veterans; to members and former members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and their families. Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the subcommittee met in camera to consider a draft report.
It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to remain in the room.
It was agreed that the chair and the clerk of the subcommittee be authorized to correct typographical and stylistic errors in the report, as needed.
It was agreed that the draft report be adopted as an interim report, and reported to the Committee on National Security and Defence.
It was agreed that a government response will be requested at the tabling of the report in the Senate.
At 12:25 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the chair.
