The Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages met this day at 5 p.m., in room B30, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Allister W. Surette, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Cormier, Gerba, Moncion, Patterson, Poirier and Surette (6).

In attendance: Marie-Ève Hudon, Analyst, Library of Parliament, and Sabryna Lemieux, Communications Officer, Communications, Broadcasting and Publications Directorate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, the committee continued its study of the strengthening of federal institutions’ arts, culture and heritage responsibilities in official language minority communities and in Canada.

WITNESSES:

Regroupement des artistes cinéastes de la francophonie canadienne:

Bruno Boëz, Executive Director;

Jocelyn Forgues, Filmmaker.

Alliance des producteurs francophones du Canada:

Carol Ann Pilon, Executive Director.

Alliance nationale de l'industrie musicale:

Julie Gabrielle Frigault, President;

Clotilde Heibing, Chief Executive Officer.

Bruno Boëz, Jocelyn Forgues and Carol Ann Pilon made a statement and answered questions.

At 6:12 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 6:18 p.m., the committee resumed.

Clotilde Heibing and Julie Gabrielle Frigault made a statement and answered questions.

At 7:02 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 7:08 p.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to discuss a draft report.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, September 25, 2025, the committee continued its study of the minority-language health services.

It was agreed that the committee allow the audio recording of the in camera portion of today’s meeting, that one copy be kept with the clerk of the committee for consultation by committee members or by the committee analysts, and that the audio recording be destroyed by the clerk when authorized to do so by the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, but no later than at the end of this parliamentary session.

At 7:27 p.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee discussed a draft agenda (future business).

At 7:40 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
