Ottawa - Tomorrow, the Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce will hear from the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development. This meeting will mark the beginning of a study to examine issues pertaining to internal barriers to trade.

In particular, the committee will invite witnesses to apprise the committee of existing internal trade barriers, why they exist and how they affect Canadians. The committee will also consider variations in regulatory requirements and whether such disparities are limiting the free flow of goods and services. The committee is seeking to identify measures that could be taken to facilitate a reduction in — if not elimination of — internal trade barriers in order to enhance trade, as well as to promote economic growth and prosperity in Canada.

Date: Wednesday, February 24, 2016
Time: 4:15 p.m.
Location:
Room 9, Victoria Building
140 Wellington Street
