Ottawa — The Senate will sit on Saturday, April 11, 2020, at 4 p.m. It is anticipated that the Senate will be convened for the consideration of additional measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Speaker can recall the Senate during a period of adjournment, if it is deemed to be in the public interest.

The Senate’s priority remains the health and safety of all Canadians. In collaboration with its parliamentary partners, the Senate has already taken preventative and proactive measures in response to COVID-19 to limit the spread of the virus. Accordingly, steps will be taken to ensure the health and safety of senators and staff involved in Chamber operations, including limiting the number of employees required to work on-site to support the sitting.

The Senate will continue to broadcast its proceedings via ParlVU and to live-tweet key information about debates in the Chamber.
