Senator Josée Forest-Niesing

It is with immense sadness that I learned of the passing of our friend and colleague, the Honourable Josée Forest-Niesing.

A proud Franco-Ontarian, Senator Forest-Niesing represented the province of Ontario in the Senate since October 11, 2018. Prior to her appointment to the Senate, she had a long and distinguished career practicing law in her hometown of Sudbury.

Senator Forest-Niesing contributed to her community as a member and chair of numerous boards of directors, and she will be remembered as an ardent and passionate defender of access to justice in both official languages.

On behalf of the Senate of Canada, I would like to extend my condolences to all her family, friends and loved ones.

The Honourable George J. Furey, Q.C.
Speaker of the Senate
