Friday, November 16 – Senator Colin Deacon participates in Venture for Canada’s first Fellow Selection Day in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This program allows recent graduates to develop entrepreneurial skills and gain work experience as they add value to startups across Canada.

Wednesday, November 21 – Senator Yonah Martin speaks to students at Beach Grove Elementary in Delta, British Columbia, about the role of the Senate in Parliament and the duties of a senator.

Tuesday, November 27 – Senate Speaker George J. Furey addresses parliamentarians at a closing ceremony of Centre Block, which will be closed for renovations for at least 10 years. Speaker Furey paid tribute to the building’s history and powerful legacy.

Friday, November 23 – Senator Colin Deacon meets with Myrna Gillis, CEO of Aqualitas Inc., and Mayor David Dagley of the region of Queens, Nova Scotia. Senator Deacon was pleased to hear how Aqualitas is using creativity and determination to bring jobs back to the old Bowater Pulp Mill in Liverpool, Nova Scotia.

Wednesday, November 28 – Senator Salma Ataullahjan takes part in a SENgage fireside chat with students of King’s University College at Western University. Focusing on the senator’s work and opinions on international human rights, the event brought together students from the departments of History and Political Science. Here, the fireside chat interviewers meet Senator Ataullahjan before the audience arrives.

Wednesday, November 28 – Senator Joseph A. Day meets with members of the Royal Canadian Air Force in the Senate Chamber during Air Force Day on the Hill.

Thursday, November 29 – Senators Diane Bellemare, David Wells, Terry Mercer and Marilou McPhedran participate in a discussion about Canadian post-secondary education with members of the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations (CASA). While visiting Parliament Hill during the annual CASA Advocacy Week, student delegates from educational institutions across the country had the chance to exchange thoughts and ideas about issues facing post-secondary students in Canada with senators as part of a SENgage youth outreach event.

Thursday, November 29 – Senators Rob Black and Colin Deacon meet Canadian comedian Rick Mercer at the Grow Canada Conference in Ottawa.

Monday, December 3 – On the occasion of World AIDS Day, Senator Mobina S.B. Jaffer addresses guests at an event on Parliament Hill to raise awareness about the disease.

Wednesday, December 5 – Senator Ratna Omidvar joined volunteers from GlobalMedic to pack product boxes for Indigenous women’s shelters across Canada.
